Research
I am part of the Biochemistry and Electronics as Sensing Technologies (BEST).
My research concerns the development of novel materials and their application in medicine and environment. I am particularly interested in the development of novel Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and their application in drug delivery, water decontamination/purification and agriculture.

Biomedicine
Dr. Sara Rojas focuses on the development of novel Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for biomedical applications. Her research explores the use of these materials in targeted drug delivery, aiming to enhance therapeutic efficacy while minimizing side effects. By engineering MOFs with precise structural and chemical properties, her work contributes to the design of next-generation biomedical platforms.
Environmental Remediation
Her work in environmental science involves designing MOFs for water decontamination and pollutant removal. These materials are tailored to efficiently capture and degrade contaminants, providing innovative solutions for sustainable environmental remediation and clean water technologies.
Agriculture
Dr. Rojas applies multifunctional MOFs to agriculture by developing controlled-release carriers for nutrients and agrochemicals. These systems aim to optimize plant growth, improve nutrient use efficiency, and reduce environmental impact, integrating advanced material science with sustainable agricultural practices.
